One of the prettiest times of the year. My fall asters are in full bloom of purple, the rock roses add their whirl of bubble gum pink.
I haven’t yet seen the stream of fall migrating monarchs, but I did see this front runner. I am hoping the white mist flower will bloom in time for the butterflies. I see small buds, so it is only a matter of time. I just hope it is soon enough.
And this week, I got a good look (if not a good photo) of my resident pond frog.
I purchased a rock roses last year, and didn’t realize it was the unusually colored Ellen’s Legacy. It received no supplemental water this summer, but is going strong. I really love the look of it.
And one other note, as of today, I still have 13 Io caterpillars on my Anacacho orchid. They’ve eaten large swaths of the tree, it many leaves still remain. It has been at least a week, so I expect/hope to see them cocoon soon!
